We moved in 2 weeks ago! Still loads to do but we are getting through it slowly. New ‘antique heart pine’ floor almost complete. We decided on two board widths 170mm & 75mm and it is a success so far. We were short one length of the 170mm board so I had to drive to Clonmel this morning and load up 4 x 2.4m lengths. It is different to the existing yellow pine floor (see header photo above) but they will sit well together after the new floor is sanded and varnished. We are using a water based satin varnish which is hard wearing, fast drying and not as toxic as other finishes. Ground floor skirting and decoration to follow.

Apologies -photos were taken late last night and lighting is not sorted yet but you should get an idea of progress anyway….

And yes that is ply-wood sheeting on the solid beach worktop in the kitchen (for protection until we decide on a sealer).
